Recipe: Cheese tea

So today I made the recipe that's been sitting in my open tabs for well over a month now: Cheese tea. They say "cheese tea", it's more like a whipped cheesecake filling that you put on top of your tea.

I made several changes mostly because I mislaid the recipe I'd copied out and I didn't want to delay any longer, so I guesstimated all measurements. I also put this on hot tea (see: no delays) and decided to try it to start on the side so that if I didn't like the combo I wasn't stuck with it.

(And I didn't salt it, because I thought I should ease into this concept.)

Verdict: I like it! But... it's a lot of a lot, and next time I gotta make it in a smaller cup. I usually brew tea in my ginormous cup. This is just too much for a big cup of tea!

(Adapted for one only one generous serving)

Ingredients

1 serving black tea, with sugar to taste
1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
3 tb sweetened condensed milk
1 oz cream cheese - about 1/8 of a standard block
salt preferably sea salt pink Himalayan salt

Directions

Brew tea in the usual way and sweeten to taste. If making this as ice tea, cool for half an hour, then put in the fridge.

Mix together the whipping cream, the condensed milk, and the cream cheese. Beat until smooth. Spoon over tea, sprinkle with salt. Enjoy!

I'll admit when I first read the title I thought you'd be steeping cheese somehow lol.

It does sound good, although awfully sweet. But I may have to try it someday!

I was skeptical at first (cheese and tea?), but I guess it makes sense as a sweetener. It does seem like it could easily be too much though.

Sounds interesting. But as I have no electric way to beat anything, I won't be making it any time soon.

I suspect you could soften it up in the microwave as well--maybe 30 seconds on defrost.

My wife, the family tea drinker, says Pass. But then she's not a fan of cheesecake.

This recipe is so strange because your cream cheese is our ”fresh cheese” and ”cream cheese” means havarti, tilsit, or something like that. 😳😂
