The recipe is Rachael Ray's and comes from the Food Network's website. Here's the link: https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/rachael-ray/oil-and-vinegar-slaw-recipe-1942496

It is really, really tasty. I had to use a smaller bag of slaw since that's what I had and guess at the amount of ingredients. I over did the black pepper, but that seems to be the only error in amount of ingredients. I also used a slaw mix that had carrot and broccoli in it instead of just cabbage. I would definitely make it again. I'm going to serve it today either on chicken tacos or as a side dish for them. I'm still surprised at how well it came out.

I was just going to go hunt up a non-mayo slaw recipe when this crossed my reading page. Serendipity! :) I'm going to try this to serve with my pork chops tonight. Thanks for posting!

I have neither peanut oil nor vegetable oil, so I'll probably use a combination of sesame oil and olive oil. I would think the type of oil impacts the flavor more than anything else since it's not something that's being cooked. We'll see. :)

My preference is a mayo/vinaigrette blend. Finally found a good one a couple months ago (I posted it here in the Cookbook Challenge), and have been making it almost every week since.

However, my wife is NOT a fan of mayo. I’ve been on the hunt for a mutually-compatible vinegar-based slaw for some time. So far we’ve determined that apple cider vinegar is a definite no. Going to give this one a shot and see how it fares. =]

I did end up making this and liked it a lot. It made a really nice midday snack, along with some polish sausage or kielbasa.

The red wine vinegar was much milder than the apple cider vinegar I tried before, but my wife still wasn’t entirely on board. I think for her it’ll be a white vinegar dressing or nothing.

But I liked it, so thanks again! =]
